LIVEWIRE forward Shane McAdam will make his long-awaited red and blue debut against the Eagles in Perth.
McAdam was traded to the Demons in exchange for a future second round selection during the off-season and had his start to the year delayed by persistent soft-tissue injuries.
The 28-year-old Halls Creek product was first selected by Carlton as a mature-aged pre-draft access selection before joining Adelaide in 2018 and making his senior debut in 2020.
McAdam has 50 senior matches to his name, kicking 72 goals.
McAdam to debut for Dees
“Shane McAdam will definitely debut for the club,” Goodwin said.
“He's put in a power of work in terms of his preparation for his body.
“He had to really go back to base camp in terms of his ability to get his body right.
“He's incredibly excited to be in the team to play alongside his great mate Kozzy Pickett. To get those guys working well together will be really important for us.”
Kick-starting Slow Starts
“We're going to do some things at training today, but starts in our game is something we need to work on,” Goodwin said.
“It probably hasn't been to the level that we would have liked, especially last week giving a side a six-goal lead.
Big Ben Brown in the Selection Picture
“He's definitely in that conversation based on his performance last week,” Goodwin said.
“We’ve just got to have a look at what we really need ahead of the ball.
“Ben certainly has gone back to VFL footy and obviously had the eight scoring shots last week and had a pretty big impact.”
West Coast Up Next
“West Coast in terms of how they played at home is exceptional this year,” Goodwin said.
They challenged Essendon to within a goal a week ago, they beat Richmond, they’ve beaten Fremantle and they're playing some really dynamic contest-based footy.
“We certainly know the challenge of going across to Perth and what we're dealing with.”
A First Meeting with Harley Reid
“As a footy supporter and a lover of the game, he's someone that you watch and you go to the games to watch,” Goodwin said.
“He's certainly someone that you've got to plan for and certainly have some plans in place if he gets out of control because he is such a talent.
“As are Elliot Yeo, Tim Kelly – these type of guys can have huge impact on the game.”
