FIRST-year Demon Aidan Riley has set round seven against Adelaide – his former club – as his dream return to the AFL.
Riley, who played his first game of football last weekend for Casey after breaking his leg while playing for the Crows against the West Coast Eagles in round 15 last year, said he would love nothing more than taking on his former team.
“As a goal, I’d love to be able to play against Adelaide in round seven – that’d be awesome to get up for that game. Whether that happens or not, I’m not really sure – I’m not going to push it that hard,” he told Dee TV.
“The coaches have said my goal is the second half of the year, so I’m just going to do everything I can to get the body feeling good, so my second half of the season, it’ll be pretty strong.
“If I can get to round seven and get a game against Adelaide – my old team – that’d be great. But if that doesn’t work out, so be it.”
Riley, who is set to play his second match for Casey this weekend, said his game time would increase this round.
“I was on limited game time last week, just building up again,” he said.
“This week, I’ll have 85 to 90 minutes, so it’s another limited game time and then I’m hoping that the next week will be a full game. Once I’ve ticked that full game off, I can start doing some more top up running to try and get my fitness base up.
