A RETURNING Bulldog, a trio of Tigers and a triple-hit of Brownlow favourites feature in round 10's Team of the Week, brought to you by Accor Hotels.
Jake Stringer wasted no time staking his claim as the answer to the premiers' forward line woes with five goals in his first game since he suffered a knee injury in round seven.
Richmond's return to the winner's list was driven by Dustin Martin, Brandon Ellis and Alex Rance, with captain Trent Cotchin stiff to miss out on a midfield spot in the team's red-hot engine room.
Cotchin has been pipped by Patrick Dangerfield in the fan vote for the final bench spot, with the Geelong superstart winning their social media head-to-head with a resounding 70 per cent.
And so, the current top three favourites for the Brownlow medal – Dangerfield, Rory Sloane and Martin – are all named in this week's team.
Carlton's Matthew Kreuzer edged out Port Adelaide's Paddy Ryder for the ruck spot, but the latter's teammate Jared Polec was impossible to ignore after his standout game on Thursday night.
Adelaide is well represented with Andy Otten winning selection in the forward line, while Sloane has scored a midfield nod with the Crouch brothers and defender Jake Lever stiff to miss out.
Also unlucky are Geelong's Mitch Duncan, Sydney's Dan Hannebery, Melbourne's Clayton Oliver, Essendon's Brendon Goddard and Dyson Heppell, Brisbane Lions' twosome Dayne Zorko and Dayne Beams, and Bulldog Lachie Hunter for his shutdown job against Jack Steven.
MARLEY WILLIAMS (North Melbourne): Helped North cling to victory and earned praise from coach Brad Scott for his role across half-back. Finished the game with 24 disposals and six rebound 50s.
ALEX RANCE (Richmond): The star defender continued to showcase his ability to have profound impacts on games. After shutting down Cale Hooker, he then helped put a stop to Joe Daniher's early influence and was crucial in the Tigers' win.
NATHAN WILSON (Greater Western Sydney): In a depleted Giants' side, the defender was important with his skills off half-back, while providing some important goal assists. Finished with 20 disposals and eight inside 50s.
JASON JOHANNISEN (Western Bulldogs): The Norm Smith medallist amassed plenty of run off half-back with 29 disposals, eight rebound 50s and a goal in the Dogs' scrappy win.
RYAN BURTON (Hawthorn): The youngster was composed down back and influential alongside the Hawks' veterans. With each week that passes, he continues to be an exciting prospect.
BRANDON ELLIS (Richmond): The Tigers were desperate for some inspiration and Ellis helped provide it with a strong, courageous game off half-back. He gathered 30 disposals with 90 per cent efficiency and kicked a goal.
SHAUN BURGOYNE (Hawthorn): The veteran was significant for the Hawks with 26 disposals and two important majors – one of which was a vital goal from outside 50 late in the final term.
JOEL SELWOOD (Geelong): The star midfielder was prolific with 33 disposals and seven marks. He again combined with Dangerfield to inspire the Cats' narrow win.
BRYCE GIBBS (Carlton): Was best afield and a primary instigator in Carlton's comeback against the Roos. Finished with 38 touches, six tackles and three goals.
DUSTIN MARTIN (Richmond): Won the Yiooken Award for best on ground in Saturday night's Dreamtime at the 'G after 30 disposals, six clearances and seven tackles. Propelled the Tigers inside 50 five times and won four of his clearances in the centre.
JAKE STRINGER (Western Bulldogs): Returned after a knee injury in fine style with five goals – four in the first half when the Saints were in the contest – and was simply unable to be contained with a range of defenders failing to keep up with him on the lead or around goal.
TOBY GREENE (Greater Western Sydney): Another influential performance with his two goals coming when they were needed most; the first a booming set shot late in the fourth, and then another from outside 50m on the boundary line at the 27-minute mark that sealed the eight-point win.
ANDY OTTEN (Adelaide): Booted a career-high four goals and took eight marks – including three contested – for 17 possessions. A slick performance in the wet as the Crows' forwards ran rings around the Dockers' defenders.
LANCE FRANKLIN (Sydney): Stood up with a five-goal effort in a losing side. Played with aggression against his former club and ex-teammate Josh Gibson, won the Goodes-O'Loughlin Medal for his game, and moved into the top 10 goal-kickers of all time with his haul.
JEFF GARLETT (Melbourne): Not only booted five goals and collected 24 disposals, but was so important with his intensity and forward pressure. Was involved in 13 score involvements and took eight marks as well.
MATTHEW KREUZER (Carlton): Won the battle against Todd Goldstein with a whopping 46 hit-outs. Got the job done around the ground as well with 18 disposals, five clearances and nine tackles, while also applying consistent pressure.
NATHAN JONES (Melbourne): Kicked three goals and had 27 touches, but it was his influence in the third quarter that was telling. Took control when the Demons were in trouble after they trailed by 30 points early in the second half; he had 12 disposals and booted two goals in the third term alone.
RORY SLOANE (Adelaide): Shook off Connor Blakely and ended with 30 possessions – 17 contested – and laid 13 tackles, kicked two goals and won eight clearances while also claiming victory in an engrossing duel with Nat Fyfe.
JARED POLEC (Port Adelaide): Kicked a belter of a goal from deep on the boundary line that gave the Power a one-point lead midway through the final term, in a performance that also included 29 touches and 626 metres gained.
SCOTT PENDLEBURY (Collingwood): There weren't many standout performances in Sunday's Pies-Lions clash, but the captain's 31-possession game was important. The new father also contributed seven clearances and nine inside 50s as the Pies prevailed in a scrappy win.
SHAUN HIGGINS (North Melbourne): Another good game from the rejuvenated Roo. Had 27 disposals – 16 were contested – won eight clearances and kicked two goals in an important performance.
The fans' pick
Fan vote: PATRICK DANGERFIELD (Geelong): Edged out fellow Brownlow medallist Trent Cotchin in the Twitter fan vote (70 per cent to 30), for his 24 touches and match-winning goal with just over a minute and a half left on the clock, plus the two majors that preceded it.
