MATCH PREVIEW:
This Saturday’s match will mark the last home game of the fixtured season for Melbourne, with the team travelling back to its south-east home of Casey Fields for a battle against Fremantle.

These two sides have a long history, with both the Dockers and Demons two of eight foundation clubs. Throughout the years they met on seven occasions, five of which went Melbourne’s way. Most recently, they faced each other during Round 6 of season seven, where the Dees travelled to Perth to snatch up a 30-point win.

This season, Fremantle currently sits at 13th on the ladder with four wins and four losses while Melbourne tops the competition with seven wins and one loss. Both the Demons and Dockers are coming off impressive wins in Round 8, setting the scene for what will be an exciting match at Casey Fields.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Melbourne
Olivia Purcell
Coming off a career-best season last year, the young Demon has continued her fine form in 2023 and will be a major danger for Fremantle at the stoppage contest.

Currently averaging 22 disposals and five tackles, Purcell will be looking to back up her dominant display in Round 8 where she was among the best with 28 disposals, seven marks, five tackles and five clearances.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Fremantle
Mim Strom
This season, Strom has been working hard to solidify herself as one of the best rucks in the competition and is succeeding, with 2023 becoming a standout year for the 21-year-old.

Averaging 24.8 hit-outs per game, the sixth highest in the league, Strom continues to be a pillar of importance in Fremantle’s midfield group, creating plenty of opportunity for the team’s engine room, setting up the likes of Kiara Bowers and Hayley Miller.
