MELBOURNE’S Tayla Harris and Gab Colvin will need to pass fitness tests this week to be available for Round 9.

Both Colvin (Achilles) and Harris (hamstring) have missed the past two weeks with Sam Batterton, AFLW Head of High-Performance, providing an update on the duo.

“Gab’s been battling this Achilles tendon issue, and it has been improving,” Batterton said.

“But it just didn’t get to the point where we felt she was fully ready to play and compete.

“She’s progressing in the right direction but unfortunately just felt short last week.

“She’ll have a few key markers this week to tick off if she is to be available.

“Tayla had a session on the weekend, she’s been running, changing direction, kicking, doing a number of football movements required.

“But she’s still got a few really key markers to hit at the backend of this week.”

Aimee Mackin was also absent from Melbourne’s starting side on Saturday after an incident during last week’s training.

“Aimee rolled her ankle during a football drill,” Batterton said.

“She had a lateral ankle sprain, she was pretty sore at the time…we scanned that and there was no structural damage which is good news.

“She’ll miss this weekend, but hopefully she’ll be available after Round 9.”

The final Demon to be listed on this week’s injury list is Sarah Lampard who has successfully undergone surgery on a fracture to her wrist, sustained during Round 7.

“She’s had the surgery and she’s recovering really well,” Batterton said.

“She’ll reintegrate into some running early next week and then will look to be around three weeks away.”
