MELBOURNE forward Chris Dawes has accepted a one-match penalty for striking North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow during last Saturday night’s loss at Etihad Stadium.

Dawes’ penalty was impacted by a previous poor record, which ensures the suspension remains at one match.

He was reported by umpire Justin Schmitt for engaging in rough conduct during the third quarter.

However, Dawes was cleared for making contact with Kangaroo Scott Thompson.

It was deemed that the force used by Dawes was below that required for a report.
