MELBOURNE’S Bayley Fritsch is on track for selection availability ahead of the club’s qualifying final clash against Collingwood on Thursday.
Fritsch left the ground during the Demons’ Round 24 win over the Swans with a concern surrounding his foot, but returned to the field to complete a five-goal performance.
Club doctor Laura Lallenec explained that the forward was training well and would have one final test ahead of Thursday’s match.
“He’s obviously had surgery on that foot relatively recently,” Lallenec told Melbourne Media.
“It was really precautionary, [we were] just making sure he was safe to get back on the field, which he was, thankfully.
“Since then, we’ve just been getting him back into training, he’s pulled up really well and he’s full trained today.
“We’ll need him to tick off our captain’s run on Wednesday, but at this stage he’s looking to be available.”
Ben Brown has continued to train on light loading this week as he tries to manage knee soreness.
“He’s suffering from some knee soreness,” Lallenec said.
“We’re just trying to get him up, back running and get him comfortable before we re-integrate him into training.”
In good news for the backline, Michael Hibberd will be available for selection this week, passing the necessary protocols following a concussion.
“Michael pulled up really well post-concussion,” Lallenec said.
“He’s passed all the protocols and will be available for selection this week.”
