DEES fans will be treated to a double dose of Melbourne footy this weekend, with both AFL and AFLW football programs set to throw their support behind Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).

The AFLW team will kick things off on Saturday 19 August in their second practice match of the pre-season schedule.

In their first ever game against Hawthorn, Melbourne will host their opposition at Casey Fields with all the action starting from 2:05pm (AEST) (gates will open one hour before the first bounce).

Those unable to make it out to Casey Fields will be able to watch the game via an AFL livestream with details for match access to be shared closer to Saturday.

Fans will be able to purchase food and drink thanks to a sausage sizzle provided by the Demon Army, while supporters will also be given the opportunity to get up close with their favourite AFLW stars in post-match boundary signings.

Sunday will then see Melbourne’s AFL side take on Hawthorn in the club’s much-loved BCNA Pink Lady match.

As part of a long-standing partnership between the club and BCNA, the match looks to celebrate the work of the organisation, raising awareness and providing support and services for those diagnosed with breast cancer.  

This game will also mark the return of BCNA’s Field of Women. Last occurring in 2018, the Field of Women brings the statistics of breast cancer to life, with thousands of people standing together in the centre of the MCG to form the silhouette of BCNA’s Pink Lady.  

Players across both Melbourne teams will run out on Saturday and Sunday in pink socks to show their support for the organisation and their important work.
