INS - Tomlinson, Chandler
OUTS - Petty (injured), Spargo (omitted)

DEPENDABLE veteran Adam Tomlinson will take the place of Harrison Petty for Sunday’s clash with the Crows.

Petty was left out of the Demon’s extended squad named last night after successive weeks being substituted out of the match with rib injuries.

Elusive forward Kade Chandler has also earned his recall to the senior team after being omitted from the last two AFL sides, replacing Charlie Spargo.

It’s a breakout year for Chandler, playing a career-high 15 games to date and earning himself a three-year contract extension after just 10 AFL games in the previous three seasons.

Tomlinson has lined-up for five senior matches in 2023, with his last senior outing coming against Collingwood on King’s Birthday.

The 173-game veteran has been superb when called upon, providing a perfect plug-and-play option for the Demon defence.

The back six will be crucial to Melbourne’s hopes of taking home the four points in Round 19, with coach Simon Goodwin well-aware of Adelaide’s fire-power.

“We're playing a very good offensive team.” Goodwin says.

“They're working incredibly hard through the middle of the ground, so defensively is going to be a real challenge for us.

“They’ve got a lot of talent ahead of the ball and they're very efficient with the way they play in their forward half of the ground.

“Supply is going to be really important and our ability to defend and get the game looking like a Melbourne game is going to be important as well.”
