MELBOURNE will adopt a shared responsibility approach with its captaincy, given co-skippers Nathan Jones (quadriceps) and Jack Viney (plantar fascia) are out injured.

For this Sunday’s clash against Carlton at the MCG, ruckman Max Gawn will represent the team at the toss of the coin.

Depending on how long Jones and Viney are sidelined, the responsibilities and coin toss will be shared among fellow leadership group members Jordan Lewis, Tom McDonald and Bernie Vince.   

Viney is expected to miss four to six weeks and Jones will be sidelined for three to four matches.
