INS – Harmes, Bowey, Melksham, Tomlinson, Brown
OUTS – Hibberd (inj.), Jordon (omitted)

DEMON DUO Jake Lever and James Harmes are set to play their 150th matches in Australia’s Red Centre after being named to take on the Giants in Round 16.

The premiership teammates have both been named on the field for Melbourne’s ninth trip to Alice Springs since 2014.

Jake Bowey, Jake Melksham, Adam Tomlinson and Ben Brown have all been added to the extended bench, with Michael Hibberd and James Jordon out of the side.

Bowey bounced back with a bang in his VFL return from concussion protocols, racking-up 27 disposals against Geelong last week.

Coach Simon Goodwin was glowing in his endorsement of the young Demon’s efforts during this morning’s media conference.

"He played an outstanding game… and certainly put his hand up for selection there's no doubt about that," Goodwin says.

"He's a high-quality player that plays the game the right way and we're excited about what he can bring to the team in the not-too-distant future."

Goodwin also highlighted veteran forward Ben Brown’s recent efforts.

“Browny (Ben Brown) has come back into some really good form in the VFL and got his body to a really good position,” he says.

“He's coming right back into calculations around selection and we'll have a look at that in the next few days.”

Jake Melksham booted four majors in last week’s VFL outing, while Adam Tomlinson performed strongly again following his omission from the AFL side.

Michael Hibberd suffered a lacerated kidney in last week’s AFL clash with Geelong, while Jordon has been omitted.

Crow-turned-Demon Lever played the first 56 matches of his career in Adelaide, before joining the Demons during the 2017 Trade period.

Harmes and Lever both featured in the club’s drought-breaking 2021 premiership, completing the rise of the former from rookie draft selection to premiership player.

The final team will be named on Friday, June 30 at 5:00pm.
