WITH a new AFL Women’s season on the horizon, Melbourne has officially finalised its guernsey numbers for 2023.
The Demons welcomed three new recruits to the club over the off-season and have since assigned Georgina Fowler, Aimee Mackin and Saraid Taylor their fresh digits.
Fowler, a former GIANT who became a Demon during the Delisted Free Agency period, will adopt the No.12 jumper. She will be the third AFLW Melbourne player, after Shelley Scott and Sabreena Duffy, to do so.
Mackin, the Irish-born talent and sister of Blaithin, will pull on the No.21 guernsey when she soon arrives in Australia. The number was left vacant following Maggie Caris’ decision to step away from football earlier this year.
Taylor, the most recent addition to the red and blue, will call the No.28 her own in 2023. The key defender was signed to Melbourne under the AFL’s pregnancy policy just last month, as Sammie Johnson works through her return to playing availability.
The famous No.6 will remain vacant this upcoming campaign, with the club honouring the legacy of retired premiership captain and AFLW pioneer Daisy Pearce.
