ASSISTANT coach Ben Mathews says Melbourne quickly focused its energies into this Sunday’s clash against Fremantle at the MCG, after its fine win over Richmond last round.
Mathews said it was important the that Demons turned their attention to the Dockers, once the Richmond review was completed early in the week, and not let last Friday night’s 32-point win consume the week.
“We came off a really good win last Friday night. The boys – off a nine-day break – have had some really good work into them this week,” he said.
“With those extra couple of days and only having a six-day break the week before, we’ve put some good work into the lads and we’re expecting a strong showing against Freo this week.
“They’re a fantastic side – a hard, contested, finals side and it’s a good challenge for our lads.
“No doubt the boys will want to test themselves against the top side in the comp.”
