Daniel Bell: He was hard at it. He would’ve had eight to 10 tackles and he played a defensive role in the middle and on the wing. I put him at half-back to get some run as well. He ended up with 17 touches, capping off a consistent season.
Sam Blease: I thought Sammy struggled. He had one decent patch in the third quarter. It was difficult for him on the small ground - he’s much better on the bigger grounds and he’ll be better at AFL level. He had eight touches on the boggy ground. With his limited preparation, it was unfortunate he couldn’t have a bigger impact.
Kyle Cheney: He carried on his good form and didn’t get as much of the ball in the first three quarters because we didn’t have Matthew Warnock and I had to rejig our backline. He played on Brad Fisher and he was doing a good job there, but then I used him on Setanta O’hAilpin, who was doing well. He had 19 touches for the game, including 10 in the last quarter.
Rhys Healey: I thought Rhys struggled a bit. Unfortunately his body has cost him most of the year. After the best-and-fairest the following day, his back was a bit tight. We didn’t train him on Friday, but he wasn’t 100 per cent. He was tagging Brock McLean and couldn’t stay with him. We then moved him on the wing. Things didn’t go his way unfortunately, after he was impressive in recent weeks.
Danny Hughes: It was really Hughesy’s day. He took three marks and we needed a Wayne Carey-like forward who could take contested marks in those situations. Danny relies on his speed and leading patterns. He missed two shots at goal - one from 50 metres when he missed it. Another was gettable in close, although the ball was a bit heavy.
Tom McNamara: He was going really good up forward, but we had to move him down back, when O’hAilpin got hold of us with three goals in the first quarter. Unfortunately Tommy was a loss in the second half - he didn’t play at all - after he hurt his leg.
Brad Miller: Still a great target. He had 14 disposals and kicked two goals. He took six marks and was good.
