For the duration of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, the Demons will be rebranded as the Narrm Football Club. Narrm is the Aboriginal name for Melbourne, which comes from the Woi Wurrung language. The club will use Woi Wurrung within its content over the next two weeks to further introduce the language to its fans.
NARRM’S Harrison Petty is set to miss four to six weeks with a djinang (foot) injury.
The defender was subbed out of the Demons’ match against the Hawks on Saturday, with club doctor Laura Lallenec providing an update on Petty’s expected timeline.
“He got his toe jammed between another player and the ground, so he had scans yesterday and that did show a sprain of one of the ligaments in his mid-foot,” Lallenec said.
“He will remain in the boot this week and the good news is that nothing is ruptured, it’s more of a strain, so we just need to get some time for healing of that ligament.”
In other news to come out of Saturday’s game, Christian Petracca was also sent for scans after rolling his ankle in the final term.
“The scans yesterday thankfully confirmed that he just tweaked that ankle area,” Lallenec said.
“He will need to get through training tomorrow and through the rest of the week to play, but we’re fairly hopeful at this stage that there shouldn’t be any issue with him playing this Friday.”
After sustaining a barring (knee) injury during the VFL’s Round 6, Luke Dunstan is making positive progress in his rehab program.
“He’s going really well, he’s started running and started to change directions, which is the next step in the rehab protocol,” Lallenec said.
“He’s likely to be two to four weeks away but he is on track at the moment.”
Following an extended time on the sidelines with a pelvic injury, young Demon Will Verrall has had a positive week on the track, integrating into a number of key skill areas.
“He’s really turned a corner and we’re really happy with his progress,” Lallenec said.
“He’s back running, he did some intro agility today and is also starting to build up some speed word as well.”
