MELBOURNE and the SEDA group officially launched the Rob Flower Scholarship at AAMI Park on Friday.

The club held a welcoming session for the 35 Victorian scholarship holders and their parents, which was then followed by a morning tea in the players’ lounge.

Melbourne manager of player personnel Todd Viney and AFL legend Bernie Quinlan, who were both close friends of Robert Flower, addressed the group on the day, before the scholarship holders spent time discussing their individual development plans with their mentors.

The Rob Flower Scholarship is provided to young people completing their Senior Secondary Education at SEDA to help support their education, personal development and career opportunities.

Flower was one of SEDA’s founding directors and the Rob Flower Scholarship looks to recognise and celebrate the qualities that he strongly believed in: community, effort, leadership, equality and loyalty.

The scholarship is awarded to young people who demonstrate these qualities and have been identified as students who would benefit from participation in a SEDA program.

The Melbourne Football Club has a long association with SEDA and its programs.
