MELBOURNE'S ANZAC Day Eve win was one for the record books.

The Demons clawed their way to an 18-point victory over Richmond on Monday night in front of a crowd of 83,985 fans, the second-highest attendance for a Melbourne home-and-away game since 1964.

Those in attendance played a major part in the Demons' performance, with the roars of the crowd being heard throughout the game.

Alex Neal-Bullen joined media on Wednesday and praised the support of the Demon faithful, highlighting the powerful impact it had on the playing group.

"It's quite special to be able to say that you play for the Melbourne footy club, it's a proud moment," Neal-Bullen said.

"Seeing where this club's come from in the last decade, [from] playing out in the MCG and trying to fill sits, to now playing in big games with the supporters there, they made a huge difference.

"For us, it's something we're so proud to be a part of and we're very thankful for our loyal supporters."

With a short five-day turnaround, the team will now move their focus to Round 7 as they prepare to face North Melbourne on Saturday night.

"We just want them to be proud of the way we play our footy, whether that be in the biggest game of the round or a game that is in a timeslot that's not big," Neal-Bullen said.

"We just want to see them there all the time supporting us through the good times and the tough times.

"And then hopefully we can repay them with some good footy throughout the year."
