MELBOURNE has welcomed a new addition to its list, signing Georgina Fowler for the 2023 AFLW season.
The former GWS player, who joins the Demons through the Delisted Free Agency period, is set to bring plenty of power to the red and blue, having previous been part of a Rugby 7s talent pathway.
Fowler made her debut in season six of the competition and arrives with three senior games to her name.
AFLW List Manager Todd Patterson shared his excitement in welcoming the 19-year-old to the club.
“We have monitored Georgie for a number of years now and once we were made aware she was available, we got to work on understanding her more as an athlete and a person,” Patterson told Melbourne Media.
“It was then made abundantly clear she still has plenty to offer the competition.
“At just 19 years of age, Georgie has an elite mindset and will be able to develop through a range of positions under our coaches.
“We are excited for her to commence with our VFLW team and continue to build her experience.”
Fowler was originally drafted to the GWS Giants with pick No.59 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft.
It adds to the good news for Melbourne fans, with the club having announced it has re-signed 28 players for season eight over the weekend.
