KYSAIAH Pickett has accepted a two-match sanction for Rough Conduct during Melbourne’s Round 1 match at the MCG.
The incident, involving the Western Bulldogs’ Bailey Smith, occurred during the second quarter of the game, and was later assessed as Careless Conduct, High Impact, High Contact.
The Demons’ General Manager of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson spoke to the decision of accepting the sanction.
“Over the past 24 hours, we have considered all options available and have had a number of conversations with different people,” Richardson said.
“We respect the ruling of the Match Review Officer and have decided not to challenge the two-match sanction.
“Kozzy is a high-pressure player, who puts his body on the line and plays with speed and intensity, and unfortunately in this instance his action had the potential to cause injury.
"Kozzy’s immediate concern was for his opponent Bailey, who thankfully was uninjured and played out the remainder of the game.”
