Paul Wheatley and Matthew Whelan were up bright and early this Thursday morning, taking the opportunity to walk to school with some very healthy students from Sandringham Primary School who take part in the ‘Walking School Bus’ program. This is centred round a dedicated group of parents, who volunteer on a rotational basis to supervise the children as they walk to school together, picking up kids along the way.
Passenger Milly, aged eight, said, “Walking to school is good for you and I get to have fun with my friends on the way.” MELBOURNEfc partners with the Bayside City Council to help promote the Walking School Bus program. Paul and Matthew gave all the kids on the ‘Bus’ a team poster and a sticker as a reward for participating. Paul said, “It is such a great program. Parents can be confident their children are safe and the kids get to enjoy all the benefits of regular exercise.”Wheels on the Bus (and Wheats!)
