THE DEMONS could face a selection headache in Round 9, with a number of key players in the frame for a return.
Coming off a 49-point win on the road, Melbourne showed no signs of weakness last weekend, but has some talent still to add to that side.
Sinead Goldrick is one who the club expects to return this Sunday at Casey Fields
“Goldie had some hamstring tightness late last week and as a precaution didn't make the trip to the Gold Coast,” Performance Manager Sam Batterton told Melbourne Media.
“This has resolved and we expect Goldie to be available for selection this week.”
Further up the ground, the Dees could receive a boost if Casey Sherriff and Lauren Pearce are able to pass fitness tests in the lead up to the clash with Essendon.
“After a week off to manage some soreness in her wrist, Casey is back moving well and building confidence in her football skills,” Batterton said.
"Lauren has continued to be a leader amongst the team, despite being unable to train fully, and she is progressing well through her concussion protocols.”
The Dees will likely have to wait one more week to see the return of Maddi Gay (hamstring) and Jordan Ivey (foot), despite both players taking strides forward in their individual recoveries.
“Maddi is making great progress with her hamstring rehab,” Batterton said.
“She has been incredibly diligent with her rehab and has still been driving the standard around the club.
“Jordi has built her running load up this week and will integrate into the main groups training next week.”
Georgia Campbell who was unavailable due to illness last week is back to full fitness, while Georgia Gall has recovered from her foot injury.
“Georgia (Gall) will play in the scrimmage match this week on limited minutes,” Batterton said.
“This marks her first return to the football field after a long-term foot injury.”
There has also been positive news in the long-term rehab group this week, with Gabby Colvin running for the first time since her ACL injury.
