THE FOOTBALL world has lost a special part of its family, with the passing of Barry Connolly.

Loved by many, and meeting life with a rare mix of cheek, charisma and generosity of spirit, Barry was a past player with Footscray in the VFL in the 1950s, and a legendary player, coach and administrator of country football, particularly in Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley Football League, where his legend will live on forever.

Barry played a major part in fostering many great playing careers, as well as caring for all those who crossed his path throughout his 72 years.

The Melbourne Football Club offers its sincerest condolences to Barry’s wife Monica, children Chris, Jenny, Shane and Joanne and grandchildren and family on their loss, as well as all those who will miss Barry for his wonderful contribution to their lives.
