MELBOURNE has welcomed three new Demons to its starting line-up as it prepares to take on the reigning premiers on Friday night. 

Maeve Chaplin will make her AFLW debut, while Jordan Ivey and Sammie Johnson will run out for the first time in Demon colours. 

Chaplin, who was drafted to the club this season, has been developing as a powerful defender. The youngster is coming off the back of an impressive season in the VFLW, averaging 15.3 disposals and 11.6 kicks. 

Ivey will come into the side to add experience to Melbourne's forward line, arriving at the Demons this season with 33 AFLW games under her belt. While she'll bring her expertise in offence, her strength will be her versatility across the ground. 

Lastly, Johnson will bolster Melbourne's midfield and provide explosive on-field energy. She has an incredible ability to compete and has developed precise skills over her time across both VFLW and AFLW. 

Blaithin Mackin, Charlotte Wilson and Georgia Campbell have been named as emergencies for the Round 1 game. 

The Demons are headed to Glenelg Oval for the Grand Final rematch, with the first bounce scheduled for 7:40pm AEST (7:10 local).
