MELBOURNE young guns Luke Jackson and Kysaiah Pickett have been picked in the AFL Players Association’s 22Under22 side for 2022.

This Demon duo, who were selected in the first round of the 2019 National Draft, both made the side in 2021 as well, making it back-to-back inclusions.

Defender Harrison Petty and wingman James Jordon both missed selection after being included in the initial squad of 40 players.

Jackson was the fourth most selected player in the side, registering votes from 92 percent of fans who completed a team.

After a breakout 2021 season, the ruckman has continued to hone his ruck craft this year, averaging 11 hit-outs per outing, while booting 11 goals in his 20 games.

Pickett’s third season at AFL-level has seen him continue last year’s form, kicking 38 goals throughout his 21 games.

The small forward’s energy inside 50 has been a crucial part of Melbourne’s season, often sparking momentum changes, and producing match-winning moments such as his clutch goal in Round 22.

The fan-voted team consists of the game’s best talent aged 22 or under.
