MELBOURNE has signed key defender Daniel Turner for a further two years, where he will remain a Demon until at least the end of 2024.
The 20-year-old will remain on the Rookie List for next season, before being upgraded to the senior list for the 2024 season.
Melbourne List Manager Tim Lamb said it’s a credit to the work ethic that Turner has shown since arriving at the club.
“Since his arrival via the 2021 Mid-Season Rookie Draft, Daniel has thrown himself into the program and got his game to a level where he was selected in the senior side for the Queen’s Birthday game,” he told Melbourne Media.
“He has quickly earned the respect of his teammates and coaches with his work ethic and desire to improve.
“We think he has a really bright future and we look forward to watching him develop over the coming years.”
Turner, who stands at 194 centimetres tall, was Melbourne’s first debutant of the 2022 season, running out for the Round 13 blockbuster against the Pies.
Unfortunately, he was subbed out of the game, due to concussion protocols and a fracture to the face, but is nearing a return to full fitness.
Turner joins midfielder Clayton Oliver in recent re-signings for the Demons.
