Veteran Adelaide forward James Podsiadly had a day out against Sturt with a nine-goal performance in the Crows' record 107-point win.

The former Cat also took 11 marks and collected 23 disposals in a dominant display.

Podsiadly was complemented by ever-reliable onballers Matthew Wright (33 possessions, eight marks), Sam Kerridge (29, nine clearances) and Mitch Grigg (27, seven marks).

Blues rookie Brad Walsh's good form continued, with the 18-year-old collecting 27 disposals (16 contested) against Box Hill.

After once again being overlooked for senior selection, Chris Yarran gathered 23 disposals.

The Blues were comprehensively beaten by the tune of 90 points.

Collingwood

American recruit Mason Cox was dominant in attack with five goals for the Magpies in their 73-point victory over Richmond. 

Onballer Ben Kennedy was prolific in the midfield with 35 disposals, while backman Paul Seedsman had 30 touches and eight tackles. 

In his second came back from another knee reconstruction, Brent Macaffer collected 24 disposals.

Essendon

Axed defenders Ariel Steinberg and Tayte Pears were best on ground for the Bombers during their come-from-behind five-point win against Footscray on Friday night.

The omitted pair kept the Bombers in the contest, with Footscray repeatedly peppering the goals and going inside its attacking 50 on 64 occasions during the match.

"(Steinberg and Pears) were absolutely phenomenal … for four quarters their attitude was amazing and a big reason why we got the result we did," Bombers co-coach Mark Corrigan told the club's website.

Young midfielder Elliott Kavanagh was among the best players in the win.

Fremantle

Ruckman Zac Clarke escaped serious injury after being concussed during the second quarter of Peel's 13-point win.

The 25-year-old received a heavy knock in a contest at ground level and was aided by fellow Docker Paul Duffield, who rolled Clarke onto his side and signalled for medical attention. 

The 203cm ruckman was taken off the ground on a stretcher and took no further part after failing a concussion test.

A Fremantle spokesman told AFL.com.au Clarke emerged from the change rooms in the third quarter and walked out to the three-quarter time huddle.

The spokesman said Clarke would be closely monitored over the coming days. 

Clarke was not the only casualty, with draftee midfielder Connor Blakely injuring his right ankle in the match.

Rookie Jacob Ballard put in a best-on-ground effort, finishing with 34 disposals, eight marks, five inside 50s and two goals.

Mature-age forward Tyrone Downie was the Suns' best player in their 85-point victory over Eastlake.

The 26-year-old booted six goals from his 28 disposals and 15 marks, and was ably assisted in attack by Seb Tape, who kicked two majors and had 19 touches.

Experienced campaigner Andrew Raines led the disposal count with 34 touches (18 kicks, 16 handballs), while omitted onballer Andrew Boston responded well with 31 disposals (24 kicks, seven handballs) and a goal.

GWS

Adam Tomlinson starred up forward for the Giants in their 80-point thrashing of the Swans reserves on Saturday.

The 22-year-old has played just the six senior games this season after battling a series of injuries, but kicked three goals to go with his 23 disposals and nine marks in the Giants' huge win.

Defender Adam Kennedy brought his teammates into the game with 27 disposals and 11 marks, while Lachie Plowman (22 touches), Jeremy Finlayson (19) and Dylan Addison (13) were among the Giants' best players.

Hawthorn

Box Hill secured the minor premiership, with talented forward James Sicily kicking eight goals to go with his 19 touches and 10 marks in the Hawks' 90-point win.

Talented midfielder Jonathan O'Rourke performed well with 17 kicks and nine marks.

Melbourne

Melbourne ruckman Jake Spencer was outstanding in Casey's win over Coburg.

The Demon racked up 19 disposals and kicked four goals, while veteran Mark Jamar kicked three majors. 

Midfielders Matt Jones (26) and Aidan Riley (22) and defender Dean Terlich (26) were the leading disposal-winners on the ground.

North Melbourne

An injury scare didn't stop North Melbourne midfielder Daniel Wells from making an impact in just his second game back after a lingering Achilles complaint.

Last week, in his first appearance since round two, Wells collected 14 disposals in just over a quarter of game time for North Ballarat.

On Saturday, the 30-year-old lined up for Werribee's development side in the VFL against Williamstown.

The classy midfielder had six disposals, three clearances and a goal in the opening term and showed his explosiveness at the stoppages.

Wells suffered a hefty knock to the head in the second quarter, which saw him leave the field to be assessed by the club doctor.

But he returned in the third term after being cleared of any damage and played out the remainder of the game, finishing with 14 disposals, two goals and three clearances.

Meanwhile, Scott McMahon (19 touches), Kieran Harper (19), Kayne Turner (18) were among North's better-performed players in the VFL squad's 15-point win.

Port Adelaide

Midfielders Sam Colquhoun and Andrew Moore were the best players for Port Adelaide in its 31-point win over South Adelaide. 

Moore finished the game with 22 disposals, three goals and six clearances, while Colquhoun had 25 touches, 10 marks and four clearances.

Big man Matthew Lobbe was the dominant ruckman with a game-high 34 hit-outs and 12 touches.

Richmond

Spearhead Liam McBean kicked five goals for the Tigers in their 73-point loss to the Pies.

Midfielders Matt Arnot and Chris Knights led the disposals for Richmond with 20 each, with the latter also chipping in with two goals.

Youngster Nic Newman led his side's disposal count with 29 touches, while ruckmen Toby Nankervis (17 disposals) and Tom Derickx (nine disposals) also contributed well in an otherwise tough day.

Western Bulldogs

Exiled Western Bulldogs ruckman Will Minson has pushed his case for a senior recall with a strong performance in the VFL on Friday night.

The 30-year-old hasn't played senior football since round 15 but was a dominant presence around the ground in Footscray's five-point loss to Essendon.

The veteran ruckman shared the ruck duties with Jordan Roughead and Tom Boyd and finished the game with three goals and 18 disposals.

"I thought Will had a fairly big impact on the game," Footscray coach Ashley Hansen told the Bulldogs' website.

"To kick three goals and to have 18 disposals and really show some energy up forward was encouraging."

Midfielder Nathan Hrovat was the Dogs' best player with 30 disposals, and was ably assisted by Sam Darley who had 29 touches.
