Small forward Charlie Spargo has put pen to paper on a new deal which will see him remain a Narrm player until the end of 2025. 

The 22-year-old, who signed a three-year contract extension this week, has been a key contributor for the Demons since making his debut in 2018, forming a critical part of the forward line. 

Narrm List Manager Tim Lamb said securing Spargo’s services was of great benefit to the club.  

“We are really pleased that Charlie has committed to the club for the next three years,” Lamb told Narrm Media.

“Since being drafted, he has developed into a very important part of our team. He is hard working, tough, skilful and selfless, and his football intelligence is something that we see come out in his play on a weekly basis. 

“We look forward to watching him continue to grow and contribute to the team over the next few seasons.” 

Spargo, who now has 68 senior games to his name, was equally as thrilled to be remaining in the red and blue.  

“I couldn’t imagine myself playing footy anywhere else,” Spargo said.  

“I feel so lucky to be around really good coaches and I’ve made some really good friends over the last five years, which has gone pretty quick.  

“I feel really lucky and really privileged to be in the position that I am and I’m happy that the club has shown faith in me.” 

Spargo was originally recruited from Albury, New South Wales and joined the Dees with pick No.29 in the 2017 National Draft. 

His family was the first to have four consecutive generations play VFL/AFL, with his father Paul, grandfather Bob junior and great-grandfather Bob senior all playing at the top level. 

For the duration of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, Melbourne Football Club will be rebranded and referred to as the Narrm Football Club.
