JAYDEN Hunt likes to fly under the radar where possible, but his teammates made sure he got the appropriate attention after his 100th game at AFL level.
The speedster was forced to lead the Demons off the ground following their 22-point win over Richmond, but he didn’t hang around for long.
“I’m always out the back,” Hunt told Melbourne Media post-game.
“I let the fuss go ahead of me.
“I was quick to get out of there.”
It was a special night for Hunt who was able to celebrate his milestone in front of over 70,000 people at the MCG.
“I said during the week that ANZAC Eve is probably my favourite home and away season game,” he said.
“So to play the 100th for that game, especially with the big crowd and get the win, it was a lot of fun.”
Adding to the joy of the occasion was the reflection he was able to have during week.
Joining the club via pick No.57 in the 2013 National Draft, Hunt admits his achievements in the red and blue have come as somewhat of a surprise.
“I never thought I would get there,” he said.
“I was pretty raw getting into the system and any game would’ve been a win.
“Then I sort of found some form, and then the last couple of years have been a bit in and out.
“So it’s good, sort of the last … two years, to really get that consistent performance and really lock myself into the team.
Hunt had 13 disposals on Sunday night, playing in a strong team defence which restricted the Tigers to just eight majors.
And while the Demons’ forwards were wasteful inside 50, slotting just nine goals from 31 scoring shots, there was a lot to take from the victory.
“All our stats were showing we were playing the Melbourne way, we just weren’t hitting the scoreboard,” Hunt said.
“That’ll come, the conversion, but we just played our brand.
“To get the four points is all we need so we’re stoked.”
