COACH Todd Viney is hoping outstanding young midfielder Tom Scully will make a decision on his future “sooner rather than later”.
Scully’s future has been the subject of much speculation this year, with the 2009 No.1 NAB AFL Draft pick strongly linked to Greater Western Sydney.
Viney said Scully was always going to announce his decision at season’s end.
But the interim coach said no definitive timeline had been set for Scully’s announcement.
“He said he’d like to make the decision at the end of the year - well, it’s here now,” he said.
“He’ll obviously have some time now to think about that, and we’re waiting for his decision.
“We’re confident that we’ve done everything we can to let him know that we want him here at Melbourne.
“Hopefully that’s the case, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
