MELBOURNE has named midfielder Dom Tyson and utility James Harmes for Sunday’s clash against Carlton at the MCG.
They have replaced Bernie Vince (suspension) and Joel Smith (shoulder).
The final team was confirmed on Friday evening, with Tyson, Mitch Hannan, Alex Neal-Bullen and Harmes named on the interchange.
Forward Dean Kent, ruckman Jake Spencer and hard-nut Ben Kennedy have been named emergencies.
It is the second week in a row Spencer has been named an emergency.
Vince, who won Melbourne’s 2015 best and fairest, was rubbed out for one match after being found guilty of striking St Kilda’s Nathan Wright at Etihad Stadium last Saturday.
And Smith, who made his AFL debut in round one, will miss the next three to four months after his injury occurred in the first quarter against the Saints.
Coach Simon Goodwin said the team couldn’t wait to play its first MCG match for the year.
And he urged the Melbourne faithful to come out in full force.
“The boys are really looking forward to it. It’s our first home game for our supporters and we’re excited by the challenge. We had a good result last week against the Saints and this week is really important to us,” he told Melbourne TV.
“We know Carlton have done really well against us through the midfield at times, so it’s an area that we want to be as good as we can possibly be.
“Hopefully what they’re starting to see is a really competitive group of young kids playing and putting in great effort and intensity. That’s what we want to see from them every week.”
The match starts at 3.20pm.
Meanwhile, Jack Trengove, Sam Frost, Cam Pedersen, Tom Bugg, Dion Johnstone, Tim Smith, Pat McKenna, Josh Wagner, Declan Keilty, Lochie Filipovic and Corey Maynard will line-up for Casey Demons against the Box Hill Hawks at Casey Fields in a VFL practice match on Saturday.
Kent and Spencer are also set to play in the VFL, with Ben Kennedy the carryover player.
