MELBOURNE will be looking to continue its strong start to 2022 on Thursday night when it travels to Adelaide for a clash with the Power.

Coming off a victory over Essendon, James Harmes says his side is full of confidence, despite still searching for their best form.

“We’re super excited,” he told Melbourne Media.

“[It was a] pretty long pre-season, a few boys went down with COVID, so to be 3-0, we’re really proud.

“I think we’re starting to build our brand of footy that supporters saw last year.”

And the Dees will need to bring the best of that brand against Port Adelaide – a quality side which is yet to register a win this season.

“It’ll be a good contest,” Harmes said.

“They’re always good at contested ball.

“And it’ll obviously be a bit of a hostile environment, going over there with that big crowd, so hopefully we can silence them early, kick a few early, and get off to a good start.”

The Demons’ road trip will begin on Wednesday, just five days after their last game, but Harmes sees this opportunity as a positive for the group.

“We love getting away,” he said.

“We all get together in the rooms and hang out.

“It’s always a good bonding trip.”

And for fans who decide to head along to the game, there will be an added incentive to stick around for the weekend.

Melbourne’s AFLW side is preparing to play in its maiden Grand Final, taking on the Crows at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

“I’m super proud of the girls and the way they’ve gone about it this year,” Harmes said.

“If they can bring home the cup, I mean that’s two in six months for the club, so I can’t wait to see them go about it and hopefully they get the win.”
