NINE GAMES into his AFL career, Jake Bowey has received his second NAB AFL Rising Star nomination.
Bowey was first recognised last season during Melbourne’s Round 22 win over the Adelaide Crows and now, six games later, he has once again been acknowledged.
The young defender takes out the nomination following a career-best performance in the Demons’ 13-point win over Gold Coast on Saturday night.
The standout match saw him register 34 disposals, 18 contested possessions and 16 intercepts.
In addition to being a ball-magnet in defence, Bowey provided valuable run off the half-backline, going on to produce seven rebound 50s.
Since officially becoming a Demon at the end of 2020, Bowey has quickly developed into a player that seamlessly fits into senior football, despite being just 19 years old.
This is the club’s first NAB AFL Rising Star nomination for 2022.
