THE DEMONS’ strong start to 2022 has continued, with young gun Tom Sparrow signing a two-year contract extension with the club.
Sparrow put pen to paper the morning after Melbourne’s 26-point Round 1 victory over the Bulldogs, cementing his future in the red and blue.
The former No.27 draft pick, who has played 29 games at senior level, had a breakout 2021 campaign which saw him play a crucial role in his side’s drought breaking premiership win.
Sparrow had 13 touches in the season opener on Wednesday night, and List Manager Tim Lamb is excited to see the midfielder hit his straps in the coming years.
“We are rapt to have Tom sign on for a further two seasons,” Lamb told Melbourne Media.
“At just 21 years old, he is already developing into a really important player for us and he is a loved and respected member of our playing group.
“Tom is fiercely competitive and driven to get the best out of himself.
“We are excited to see where he can take his game over the next few years.”
