COACH Paul Roos has sent Hawthorn star Jarryd Roughead his best wishes, after the four-time premiership player suffered a recurrence of melanoma.
The 29-year-old will be out indefinitely and undergo a biopsy to determine the best form of treatment.
Roos said everyone involved in the game was right behind the popular Hawk.
“It’s a bit shock to the whole footy community and like everyone we pass on our best wishes on behalf of the Melbourne footy club,” he said on Melbourne TV.
“I shot Liam Shiels a text the other day, as I know Liam. I didn’t have Roughy’s [phone] number, but I’m sure he’s getting inundated [with messages].
“We want to make sure he understands that the Melbourne Football Club holds him in great regard, as everyone does and we hope that it’s a battle that he wins and I trust that it’ll be a battle that he wins. Our wishes are with him.”
