A SURPRISE visit from family has marked an important moment in Maeve Chaplin's journey as a Demon.

Ahead of the side's training on Saturday morning, Chaplin became a part of a Melbourne Football Club tradition, receiving an AFLW arrival ring.

Captain Daisy Pearce presented the keepsake, with Chaplin's family there for the memorable moment.

Receiving an arrival ring has been a unique tradition for the club since the AFLW's inaugural season back in 2017. Tokens of recognition for all new recruits, rings are engraved with each player's selection number.

Signing on at the club at the start of the year, Chaplin has become a valuable member of the team, recently impressing in Casey's Round 1 win over Port Melbourne.

Following the ceremony, the team then put in a final session ahead of their Round 7 clash against the Lions on Monday night. The Saturday morning training was held at La Trobe Sports Stadium before the VFLW's match against the Darebin Falcons.
