BLAKE Howes is now a Demon after hearing his name called out with pick No.39 in the 2021 National Draft.
The 18-year-old, who represented the Sandringham Dragons, will add to Melbourne’s forward depth, playing the majority of his footy inside 50 in his junior years.
Howes stands at 190cm, and has a point of difference with his ability to play as a tall, but also impact at ground level.
The Victorian can take a strong overhead mark and also impact up the field when pushing onto the wing.
For a player of his height, Howes' athleticism may be his most impressive attribute as it will allow him to play wherever Simon Goodwin desires in the coming seasons.
Howes was selected with the Dees’ first selection on Thursday night (a second round pick), after Jacob van Rooyen (pick No.19) was taken on night one of the Draft.
