FIRST-year Melbourne captain Brad Green talks to melbournefc.com.au about his inaugural captains’ day at AFL House/Etihad Stadium …

How has your first AFL captains’ day been?

BG: There has been plenty on, but it’s one I’ve really enjoyed, mixing with the captains from around the clubs. It was really good having lunch with them and the AFL commission, which was great.

What have you got out of the day?

BG: It’s been good to see how the other captains’ pre-seasons have been going and the way they’ve all prepared and the way they’ve gone about it. It’s been good catching up with players you know from playing against or ones that you’ve been on tour with, which has been great.

Was there any captain you hadn’t met until today?

BG: I’ve been lucky enough to have met them all before. The thing about the club captains is that they’re all great players and you tend to look up at them and think about the way they go about their footy, which is what I try and do.

Of the club captains, who do you know the most?

BG: I know Adam Goodes and Matthew Boyd after touring with them last October, when playing for Australia. It was good getting to know them well in Ireland and that relationship is great for something like today.

Have there been any amusing stories to come out of the day?

BG: No, not really. It’s all been pretty straight forward, but it’s been a great day to be a part of.
