MELBOURNE midfielder Clayton Oliver has polled top votes towards the AFL Coaches’ Gary Ayres Award, after his performance in the side’s Qualifying Final win over Brisbane on Saturday night.
The Gary Ayres Award is given to the player who has been judged as the best performer throughout the 2021 AFL Finals Series as voted by the coaches.
Off the back of receiving the AFL Coaches’ Champion Player of the Year Award last week, Oliver collected ten votes from his 33-disposal game, where he also racked up 18 contested possessions, 36 pressure acts, one goal and ten score involvements.
Oliver was one of two players who achieved perfect scores throughout Week 1 of the AFL Finals Series alongside Sydney's Isaac Heeney, with both sitting atop of the leaderboard.
Christian Petracca polled seven votes for his Qualifying Final game where he collected 32 disposals, two goals and ten score involvements, putting him equal third on the leaderboard.
Three other Demons also received recognition on Saturday night with Jake Lever (three), Max Gawn (one) and Alex Neal-Bullen (one) rounding out the vote-getters.
