MELBOURNE has selected key position player Liam Hulett, from Dandenong Stingrays, with its final pick in this year’s NAB AFL Draft.
National recruiting manager Jason Taylor said: “He’s a 194cm key position player. Liam primarily played as a forward, but spent some time in defence."
"He really had an injury-interrupted year, but he really had an injury-interrupted year and came of note in the under 16 championships, where he showed promise as a third forward.
"He’s grown into a big strong player and played the final couple of games for the Dandenong Stingrays this year, after some senior football at Peninsula level. What he showed in the two years prior to this – and the way he finished off the year – was very good.
"He could develop into a strong key forward, as he has good hands overhead. He’s a good set-shot kick at goal.”
